TUTOR for MATs

TUTOR for MATs

Why MATs are using TUTOR

When it comes to Multi Academy Trusts, TUTOR is synonymous with equitability — because if an intervention is good enough for one pupil, then it’s good enough for all pupils. School groups come to us not just because they want to be able to deliver the benefits of 1-1 tuition to all pupils, but also because TUTOR shows parents a tangible benefit of sending their children to a Trust school. In the video below, the Executive Director of Primary for the STEP Academy Trust, Tim Mills, explains why STEP decided to offer the full Complete Maths suite to all 20 of their primary schools.

What is an Intelligent
Tutoring System?

Intelligent Tutoring Systems are known to be the most impactful form of supplementary education. It may feel slightly counterintuitive, but ITSs have been repeatedly shown to be even more effective than one-to-one human tutoring. An Intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is a computer system that provides immediate and customised instruction or feedback to pupils, enabling learning in a meaningful and highly effective manner. How do MATs use TUTOR?

How do MATs use TUTOR?

Offering TUTOR to every pupil across your group means all schools can benefit from an affordable and credible alternative to bespoke 1-1 tuition. Our trust-level analytics panel means leaders can identify common knowledge gaps across groups of schools and act quickly to intervene — or create opportunities for their talented maths teachers to lead the way. What’s more, having access to consistent and comparable data makes tracking, predicting and standardising across schools far easier, including for key pupil groups.

Every trust, and every school within that trust, is different, and we know how important it is for leaders within each school to feel empowered while also observing the principles of best practice across the wider group. We call this ‘autonomous alignment’, and we work closely with each group joining us to ensure flexibility of implementation across individual schools while also delivering measurable impact for the trust at large.

How can I introduce TUTOR across my schools?

How can I introduce TUTOR across my schools?

  • TUTOR rollouts across groups of schools often begin with a launch event, either online or in person. The STEP trust opted for two in-person launch events within each region, while Two Counties Trust opted for a live, remote event for all maths leads.
  • At the start of their subscription, all schools signing up to TUTOR are offered a 45-minute meeting with one of our Education team, all of whom are experienced former teachers. In this meeting, we’ll discuss each schools’ individual needs and context, and agree a plan for successful implementation. The team will often meet with school leaders at multiple points throughout the year to check in on progress.
  • All schools are able to access as much free platform training as they wish — some schools opt to do this at the beginning of their subscription for all teachers, while others spread sessions out and engage key stakeholders first.
  • Throughout a schools’ subscription, we’ll keep them up to date with new features, events, and advice on getting the most from the platform, as well as feedback for teachers on student misconceptions from our maths team.
  • Maths leads working across multiple schools can access detailed analytics showing pupils’ progress on TUTOR and tracking its impact for targeted groups.
