The Head of Maths Conference

With an ever changing education landscape, it is increasingly important that Heads of Maths have opportunities to hear accurate policy updates and engage with curriculum and assessment changes. The Head of Maths Conference will be a day of informative discussion, updates, networking and activities.

Delegates will take away:

  • A clear understanding of what Ofsted is and is not looking for
  • Detailed knowledge of the new GCSE and A Level specifications
  • The implications of the new grading at GCSE and how these impact on school league tables and post-16 study requirements
  • In addition, delegates will have lots of time to network with each other, sharing ideas, concerns and support.

Workshops

Ofsted Myth Busting

We will unpick some of the prevailing Ofsted myths and ensure HoDs have the ability to challenge unhelpful initiatives.

Awarding bodies update and Q&A

A chance to ask Andrew Taylor (AQA), Eddie Wilde (OCR) and Graham Cumming (Edexcel) about the changes at GCSE and A Level.

New content in GCSE Mathematics

An expert will lead a discussion about the new specifications including a lot of content that teachers may not have met in their careers. We will explore much of that content and get to grips with impactful approaches to teaching it.

New content in A Level Mathematics

A summary of new content to be introduced in the upcoming A Level specifications will be followed by a hands-on exploration of some of the content in detail. We will give delegates helpful and interesting ways of approaching new content material in the classroom.
