Solving Maths Teacher Shortages

Are you facing a shortage of maths specialists to deliver lessons this academic year?
Are you deploying non-specialist or unqualified staff to deliver the provision?

La Salle Education is here to help through it's
Solving Maths Teacher Shortages Scheme

Every Lesson Can Be Effective

We all know that the very best position for a school to be in is to have each and every maths lesson delivered by a specialist mathematics teacher. We share that aim and aspiration, but the reality is that many schools across the country are dealing with the impact of a national recruitment crisis. There simply is not enough maths teachers to fill the roles.

The Issue

Head teachers are then faced with tough decisions about how to staff the provision of maths. In many cases, long term supply, the use of HLTAs or other non-qualified staff, or internal day to day cover by colleagues is the only option. These staff strive to provide the best possible learning experience for their students and heads of maths work hard to support them. But what if there was another solution? What if those colleagues standing in for a maths teacher were also able to deliver effective maths lessons, while at the same easing the crushing burden on the head of maths?

How does it work?

Complete Mathematics Mentor

Your non-specialist or unqualified staff (HLTA, Cover Manager, Supply Teacher) can deliver far more effective lessons with support from a maths education expert, always on hand, always there to help.

Complete Mathematics Platform

Our unique and comprehensive platform gives complete curriculum coverage, with a programme of lessons designed specifically for your students in consultation with the school. Each lesson plan will be fully stored in the system in advance of the lessons so that the member of staff delivering the lesson has access to detailed support, advice and all of the learning activities and materials.

Email and Phone Support

Although the Complete Mathematics online platform enables the Mentor and staff to communicate, we understand that sometimes it is just nice to have a proper chat with a specialist teacher to get some hints, tips and support.

Student Homeworks and Assessments

Our maths expert Mentor will design and set regular homework tasks for every student (fitting in with your school homework policy), which will be distributed through the Complete Mathematics online platform so that there are no excuses. Students will be given regular assessments to complete, ensuring that the school has a forensic knowledge of strengths and areas for improvement as well as being able to provide tracking and progress data.

Specialist Maths Teacher Recruitment

Every term, La Salle hosts the National Mathematics Teacher Conference, attended by many hundreds of maths teachers and trainees. As a partner school, your school would be featured prominently at the event with your posts widely advertised and delegates able to attend our recruitment fair stand for more details. In addition your vacancies will be advertised on our site and through our well followed social media accounts.

How much does it cost and what is the tie-in?

We understand that schools need to work flexibly, with recruitment taking varying amounts of time. That is why the Solving Maths Teacher Shortages programme is contracted on a monthly basis. A full-time equivalent non-specialist or unqualified teacher support costs just £1500 per month, meaning schools are able to fit in this additional support within most planned budgets*. Please contact us to discuss part-time staffing support.
